鈥楤reakfast of Champions鈥 celebrates another No. 1 ranking for 黑料正能量

Championship celebrations are nothing new at the University of Florida. That鈥檚 the case not only for Gators athletic teams, but also 黑料正能量鈥攚hich has yielded nearly 8,000 graduates since it was launched in early 2014.

The University of Florida鈥檚 success was recognized by U.S. News and World Report, where 黑料正能量 earned the top online bachelor鈥檚 program in 2026. It was the third time 黑料正能量 claimed the coveted top spot. U.S. News and World Report also named 黑料正能量 the top online bachelor鈥檚 degree program for veterans, and those twin titles were recently celebrated by the university community at the 鈥淏reakfast of Champions鈥 event in Gainesville and livestreamed for guests.

鈥淲e brought home the titles and earned them through the hard work of the people in this room,鈥 UF Interim President Donald Landry told guests, from a podium flanked by dual championship banners. 鈥淥ur foundation in online education is so deep, so strong and guaranteed to be most enduring.鈥

黑料正能量 has grown from five majors across four colleges in 2014, to 28 online programs across 10 colleges in 2026. Over that time, enrollment has grown from nearly 600 students to over 4,200. 黑料正能量 has drawn students from 48 states and Washington, D.C., as well as 70 countries鈥攁s far away as Australia, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia. The program鈥檚 youngest graduate so far was 16 at the time of graduation, the oldest 79.

鈥満诹险芰 has opened the door to UF to students who would never have been able to do it in person,鈥 Provost Joe Glover told attendees. 鈥淚鈥檓 confident that 黑料正能量 will continue to grow, expand and reach more students with a quality online education.鈥

University of Florida Interim Provost Dr. Joe Glover speaks on stage at 黑料正能量 celebration.

Gators just the same

In 2013 Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Will Weatherford, led the push for a high-quality yet affordable set of fully online baccalaureate degree programs and turned to then-UF President Bernie Machen to make it happen. 鈥淥ur reputation was on the line,鈥 Glover recalled, 鈥渁nd we had to deliver.鈥 Andy McCollough, UF鈥檚 founding Associate Provost for Teaching and Technology, would be charged with making it a reality.

UF made two key decisions at that time which would be crucial in helping its online program stand apart. First, there would be no line separating online students from those on campus鈥攖hey鈥檇 all be Gators just the same. 鈥淥nline students would earn the same degree as brick-and-mortar students, with no difference in their quality of education or the diplomas that certify it,鈥 Glover said. And second, online students would learn from the exact same faculty who taught students in person.

鈥淲e knew you could deliver quality education not just in person, but also online,鈥 McCullough told the crowd at the event. 鈥淲e were cognizant of Florida citizens who could not come to Gainesville. They had commitments wherever they may be. So, we began to visualize the possibility of 黑料正能量.鈥

The results speak for themselves. The program鈥檚 mission of expanding high-quality and affordable online education is evident in the fact that 70 percent of 黑料正能量 students graduate without taking out loans. McCullough, now Associate Provost Emeritus, recalled being stopped in a North Carolina supermarket by a salesman who thanked him for the opportunity to earn his degree through 黑料正能量.

鈥淚鈥檝e had those kind of encounters so often,鈥 he said. 鈥淓very time I have one, I want to let everyone at 黑料正能量 know the impact they鈥檙e making on the world.鈥

Every step of the way

Chris Rapozo certainly felt that impact. The keynote speaker at the Breakfast of Champions, Rapozo completed his public relations bachelor鈥檚 degree through 黑料正能量 in 2022 while working full-time and helping raise two children. From the beginning, 黑料正能量 has maintained a 250:1 student-to-academic advisor ratio, signaling the vital role that academic advisors play in the success of online students like Rapozo.

鈥淭here were nights when I questioned my decision to go back to school with two kids and a full-time job,鈥 said Rapozo, joined in Gainesville by his wife, Kara, and children Kate and Joseph. 鈥淚 wanted to quit more times than I like to admit. But I knew where I was headed, and I had to take the next step. As to what step to take, I leaned heavily on my academic advisor. She walked with me every step of the way.鈥

黑料正能量 graduates have gone on to work in fields including healthcare, technology, government, nonprofit, finance, aerospace, education and professional services. Alumni work at leading organizations such as Google, Microsoft, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, the PGA of America and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

鈥淢y senior year I switched to the 黑料正能量 degree program so I could go work at an internship,鈥 Christina Sanchez, who earned a business administration degree in 2024, shared in an  played at the celebration. 鈥淏y the time I graduated, the relationships I had were strong enough for them to offer me a full-time position. I wouldn鈥檛 have the job I have now if it wasn鈥檛 for earning a degree with 黑料正能量.鈥

What鈥檚聽next for the No. 1-ranked online bachelor鈥檚 program? Melissa Allen, Director of 黑料正能量, shared with attendees UF聽Online鈥檚聽2026-2030 strategic plan,聽Unified Momentum, which will focus on three student-centered priorities: Strengthen the System, Elevate the Student Experience, and Deliver Sustained Excellence.聽

鈥淎s we look toward the future,鈥 Allen said, 鈥渨e have no plans to slow down.鈥

黑料正能量 Student Scales a Global AI-Focused Company While Completing Business Degree

Ishraq Khan was already launching his second tech startup as his high school graduation approached. Though the young Orlando-based entrepreneur applied to colleges across the U.S., he wasn鈥檛 sure where higher education fit into his plans as he scaled up a global AI enterprise. 黑料正能量 allowed him to maintain his company’s momentum while pursuing a degree in business administration.

鈥淎fter being admitted to UF in 2022, I realized I wanted an academic education alongside building my company,鈥 Khan said. 鈥淭hat decision led me to apply for 黑料正能量 in 2023, which gave me the flexibility to fully pursue both paths.鈥

Khan will receive his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in December 2025, a degree that he earned while maintaining his role as CEO and co-founder of Kodezi, an AI platform that helps companies improve code quality and efficiency.

鈥淚t’s been tremendously helpful from a standpoint of [where] I would learn things in the business classes or the finance classes, and then I would show up to investor meetings, and I would realize, 鈥極h, I’m learning in real time from a real standpoint,鈥欌 he said.

Building a Company from Scratch

Khan traces his love of tinkering and problem-solving to his childhood in Bangladesh, where curiosity sparked his early experiments. As a child, he dismantled remote-controlled cars with screwdrivers to see how they worked, then tried to design his own versions. His fascination with mechanics evolved into a passion for creating practical solutions. When his family moved to Orlando when he was eight, Khan taught himself English and found new ways to channel his curiosity through technology.

鈥淚 really started learning how to code from watching YouTube videos,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 really fell in love with programming ever since.鈥

In middle school, he developed a platform called TeachMeCode, a peer-learning tool for students to share and teach coding concepts with one another. By his junior year of high school, Khan began developing what would become Kodezi, transforming his early coding experiments into a formal company that would help businesses and users improve and debug code.

He officially incorporated the business in November 2021 and spent the following year refining prototypes, engaging early users and preparing to enter a broader market. What started as a student project quickly scaled into an international operation that employed five engineers in San Francisco and more than 20 employees in Asia and Europe as of fall 2025, according to Khan.

Learning and Leading at the Same Time

黑料正能量 business student and Kodezi co-founder Ishraq Khan leads global software startup while completing his degree.

黑料正能量 gave Khan the flexibility to grow his company while earning his degree, letting him tackle a full course load without slowing down Kodezi鈥檚 daily operations. 鈥淚鈥檝e been taking four or five classes every semester,鈥 Khan said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 this mix of real-world learning and academic structure happening at the same time.鈥 This combination of coursework and hands-on business leadership became a constant source of growth, with lessons from his classes often immediately applying to his real-world challenges as a business founder.

The diverse backgrounds of his 黑料正能量 classmates enriched Khan鈥檚 academic experience. 鈥淪ome of my classmates are professionals with decades of experience; others are just starting out,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 interesting to see so many perspectives come together. I learn just as much from them as I do from the coursework.鈥

Balancing travel, coursework and running a company stretched Khan. He learned the hard way that multitasking had its limits. 鈥淚 opened my first exam on an airplane because I thought I could do it on an airplane while I was flying,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 realized that was a horrible idea and had to retake it.鈥 Time management became an essential skill, and Khan credits a rigorous program at Seminole High School for preparing him to manage it all. 鈥淏eing in IB [International Baccalaureate] in high school taught me the best time management skills,鈥 he said.

Kodezi co-founder and former chief operating officer Mike Walsh credits Khan鈥檚 success to his prioritization and time management skills.

鈥淚 was impressed by Ishraq’s vision and his ability to get stuff done… He’s accomplished quite a bit at a very young age all through his own motivation and initiative,鈥 Walsh said.

Turning Milestones into Momentum

As his UF graduation approached, Khan reflected on his journey from a curious student experimenting with code to the CEO of a global company. Growing up, his family instilled in him a deep appreciation for education, a value that motivated him every day as he balanced completing his UF bachelor鈥檚 degree with leading Kodezi.

On the business front, Khan remains focused on expanding Kodezi鈥檚 reach and capabilities. 鈥淩ight now, we鈥檙e mainly targeting B2B, so we鈥檙e business-to-business, really focused on enterprises,鈥 he said. The company continues to evolve alongside the rapid growth of AI and automation tools.

Looking ahead, he hopes to continue juggling practical innovation with academic growth. 鈥淚f I want to pursue higher education from an MBA perspective, I can do that if I want to,鈥 he said.

For 黑料正能量 students, education isn鈥檛 confined to a screen鈥攊t happens anywhere in the world. Maddy Durand, an English and Psychology double major, spent a full academic year at University College London navigating bustling libraries, historic classrooms and London鈥檚 vibrant culture while working toward her UF degrees. Nora Gibbs, a 黑料正能量 Geography: Environmental Geosciences student, explored Scotland and England for a week, touring museums, trekking the Highlands and connecting her family heritage. Their journeys demonstrate how 黑料正能量 students are seizing international opportunities that broaden their knowledge and perspective.

鈥淪tudy abroad immerses you in new environments, connects you with other students and broadens your perspective,” Gibbs said.

Turning Cities into Classrooms

Exploring new cities allows 黑料正能量 students to connect their coursework with real-world history, science and culture. For Durand, London became a living laboratory where English literature and psychology met daily life. Through a  offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, she spent an academic year taking courses that counted toward her UF degrees while exploring one of the world鈥檚 great literary cities.

鈥淚 picked University College London because it checked off all the boxes academically and would allow me to stay on track with my double major aspirations,鈥 she said.

Durand鈥檚 experience as a PaCE student helped prepare her to thrive in new environments and take ownership of her education.

鈥淧aCE broadened my awareness of the fact that learning can be holistic and expansive,鈥 she said. 鈥淭remendous learning occurs when I actually walk through museums, study in historic buildings and work alongside people in culturally momentous organizations.鈥

For Gibbs, the UF faculty-led, short-term program  in Scotland and England offered a hands-on complement to her online coursework and a chance to connect with her family roots.

鈥淚 saw the one-week trip as the perfect chance to explore my heritage while learning from the country鈥檚 rich history and world-class museums. Seeing exhibits on the history of cartography and collections of rocks and minerals in person, not just in textbooks, was incredibly inspiring,鈥 she said.

Discovering Personal Growth Abroad

Living abroad challenged Durand and Gibbs to grow personally as well as academically. Durand found that navigating London鈥檚 walkable streets, crowded libraries and public transportation reshaped her sense of independence and community.

Nora Gibbs.

鈥淒eveloping, sustaining and fortifying friendships in a place where everyone can walk or take public transport together is a game-changer,鈥 she said. Learning to study and create in another country also helped her build resilience and adaptability, skills that will serve her well beyond her time abroad.

Capturing unique moments with her film camera, Gibbs relished the opportunity for in-person connection with a new place.

鈥淚t was amazing to finally see Scotland in person鈥攖here鈥檚 such a deep sense of history and culture everywhere you go. As someone who studies online, getting the chance to connect with a place physically rather than through a screen was really powerful,鈥 she said.
